As a busy female founder scaling your business, the last thing you need is a website that feels like a burden. You need something flexible, scalable, and easy to update in minutes.

That’s why I pride myself on making the most flexible, easy to use websites around. My clients can log in, make their changes, and get back to focusing on their business instead of wasting an afternoon on a technical time suck.

But the reason I’m able to do this is because I’m a designer AND developer – and I build exclusively on WordPress! I know, I know…WordPress gets a bad rap sometimes. But before you recoil in horror, let me explain why it’s the most powerful platform out there (when done right).

WordPress vs. Website Builders

One of the biggest misconceptions is lumping WordPress in with website builders like Squarespace, Wix, or Showit. But WordPress isn’t a website builder. It’s a content management system (CMS) – a software that manages digital content and files.

Website builders are like renting an apartment. WordPress is like owning your home: you can knock down walls, add extensions, and decorate however you like.

A CMS gives you flexibility and control without the cookie-cutter limitations that come with builders. While website builders are a great option at first, scaling founders find themselves needing something a little (or a lot) more custom that can grow with them. And that’s where WordPress is a better option.

And before I dive into what it can do for you, I first wanna bust some myths because I’m seeing them a lot lately from unqualified ‘experts’ who are spreading misinformation.

Myth 1: WordPress is difficult to use

Not only have I seen a tonne of “WordPress is easier than I thought” posts from business owners, but when built properly, WordPress can be the most easy-to-use, intuitive website you’ll ever login to. My clients can update text, add images, or create new pages in minutes.

With website builders, you have no control over what your dashboard looks like, but with WordPress you do – so you can code it to your needs. My clients often come from web builders, but when see their WordPress website for the first time, they cannot believe how easy and intuitive it is to use.

Myth 2: WordPress is clunky and bloated

Only if you turn WordPress into a Web builder (by using a tonne of plugins or page builders like Elementor, Divi, WP Bakery etc) When you do that, you add unnecessary bulk and turning WordPress into something it isn’t (a website builder). When built properly, WordPress creates the leanest, fastest, and high-performing sites around.

Myth 3: You need a developer for basic changes

Not true. Firstly because if you are using a pre-made theme or page builder then basic changes are kinda a given. Secondly, if you do work with a proper developer, we’ll build your site so straightforwardly that you’ll have full autonomy. My clients don’t need me for day-to-day edits and aren’t held hostage to pay £££ if they wanna change a link or phone number.

Myth 4: WordPress relies too heavily on third-party plugins

Again, nope. Anything can be coded directly into your site.

Myth 5: You need plugins for SEO

Absolutely not. SEO can be baked into the code. Plus SEO isn’t just technical; your content plays a huge role. Technical SEO just gives you an edge.

Myth 6: WordPress requires manual updates

No it doesn’t. There are ways to automate (like through hosting) and the main reason why WordPress offers manual updates is so you have full control over the updating process.

Myth 7: WordPress is unsecure and easily hacked

WordPress sites are targeted often, but only because it powers nearly 50% of the internet! It’s like saying cars are the most stolen vehicles simply because there are more cars than bikes. WordPress is just as secure (if not more secure) than any other platform.

PHEW 😅

With that now out the way let’s flip it around.

Here’s why I build with WordPress and why is the best solution for business owners who are serious about growth:

Flexible and Scalable

WordPress gives you a level of customisation that website builders can’t match. No restrictions, no “sorry, that feature isn’t available on your plan.” You can add what you want, whenever you want it which is why I can design and build websites that fully match my clients requirements.

Website ownership:

With website builders, you don’t own your website. You rent it. This means you’re at the mercy of any platform changes, outages, or price rises. It also means you can’t move your website around. Say you wanted to move from Wix to SquareSpace – you’d have to manually rebuild the whole thing because the website you built is set in stone on that platform.

Easy to use:

Having full control means I can change the website dashboard to whatever I want. And this is how I can create such intuitive, easy to use websites for my clients because I build the dashboard to suit their business. They don’t just get a custom look…they get a custom website inside AND out!

High-converting:

I’ve had experiences during a Personalised Website Review, where I’ve advised clients to tweak an element that’s causing conversions to drop – only for them to tell me they can’t because they’re locked in by their site builder. Having a platform without limits and full control means I can design every inch of a website to be cohesive, user-friendly, and conversion focused.

Unlimited SEO opportunities:

Like above, SEO isn’t just technical – but implementing better and more technical optimisations can certainly help. And with WordPress, the ways to optimise a website are virtually limitless (no plugins required!)

High performance:

WordPress is designed to handle increasing traffic, extra pages, and larger amounts of data without dropping in performance. A crucial requirement when growing your business.

Websites done properly.

Anyone can create a website these days but creating one that’s flexible, scalable, easy to use, completely bespoke, and built for growth is on a completely different level (and platform).

Website builders are a great choice to start with but they’re no comparison to WordPress because WP is a completely different tool. One that’s designed for developing fully bespoke and future proofed websites.

Which is exactly why WordPress is my choice for creating websites. Done properly, it’ll be one of the most easy-to-use, intuitive, high performing, fully controllable website you’ll ever own.
